Description
Vadalarm SmartMono is our best solution for rodent control when you need a built-in battery product!
The Vadalarm Smart Mono, a battery-powered rodent repellent, emits a disturbing sound of 20 to 30 kHz for rodents and rabbits at a distance of about 40 meters. Thanks to the randomly changing frequencies, animals are not attracted to it. Fortunately, the human ear can no longer hear them, so they do not disturb us.
The world's first smart rodent repeller:
The Smart version of the Vadalarm Rodent Repeller, the Smart Mono, can be diagnosed from a smartphone. All you need is a smart device, which is always in your pocket anyway, and the Vadalarm Smart app, which you can download for Android by clicking here and for iOS by clicking here.
With the Vadalarm Smart app:
- Connect to your own Vadalarm Smart device.
- Via Bluetooth, you can check battery charge, select and purchase features.
- You can trigger speaker diagnostics.
- Check your device's charge and alarm cycles via WIFI.
- You can set the language.
How does the ultrasonic alarm work?
You probably know that rodents have much better hearing than humans. You may also have heard that they are more sensitive to higher frequency sounds, experiencing them as deafening (while we don't even perceive them). This noise is called ultrasound, and that's what the Vadalarm rodent alarm creates. Rodents and rabbits are most disturbed by frequencies between 20 and 30 kHz. You should be aware, however, that ultrasound does not pass through walls (including plasterboard), so it is important to place the rodent repeller in the same airspace as the rodents and point it in the direction from which the animals are coming. It's also important to provide an escape route for them so that you don't just scare them from one side of the house to the other.
Don't wait until you see this in the engine compartment of your car!
Rabbits and rodents often get into the engine compartment or under the car looking for shelter and warmth. During one of these nocturnal forays, they chew on cables and pipes in the hope of finding food, or just to wear down their teeth. Unfortunately, the cost of repairing the car is usually not ten pennies. The first sign is a five-fingered footprint on the roof of the car, often and mistakenly attributed to cat footprints by drivers. Don't let it come to this, act in time!
Don't let them move into your home!
If there are mice in the flat, they will certainly discover any food, chew it up, scramble around and get into it. The health risk of this is most alarming, but of course the financial damage is considerable. This is particularly true of attics, lightweight detached houses, holiday homes and terraced accommodation. Don't let your kitchen turn into a battlefield.
Where there's a mouse in the house, scratching noises will keep you on your toes. They also become stronger and denser, especially at night. Instead of sleeping, we start to listen and search, typically to no avail and to no avail. This, of course, only results in a complete inability to sleep soundly, and the next day we are even sleepless. Don't let them spoil your sleep!
It's annoying to find droppings, but that fact alone is enough to fight off rodents. Many people don't know this, but mouse droppings, saliva and urine can contaminate our drinking water and food, or we can even inhale the contaminated dust and become infected. Don't let this happen in your family.
Why choose this product?
- Because the variable-frequency ultrasound used by Vadalarm is not used to animals.
- Because the 30-40 meter range can cover an area of 1,000-2,000 m² at an angle of 120°, you can even use it in warehouses.
- Thanks to its frequency of 20 to 30 kHz, it repels not only rodents but also rabbits.
- The human ear can no longer hear this frequency range, so it is not disturbing to us.
- It can be powered from mains electricity, and we always include a conversion cable to plug it into a USB socket.
- You can order it with a built-in battery, so you don't need to install it next to an AC power source.
- The developers have kept ease of use in mind, so you just plug it in and it's maintenance-free.
Why is Vadalarm's solution better than other ultrasonic devices?
- Powerful: One of Vadalarm's strengths is that it uses speakers that are able to produce a much more powerful sound than what is normally available on the market.
- Automatic: Forget the unmanageable wankers with thousands of settings. There are no settings, no switches, you just plug it in and it's on.
- Compact: Our Mono comes with a built-in battery so you can put it where there's no power outlet nearby, because after a single charge of about 3 hours, it'll run for at least a week on its built-in battery.
Frequently asked questions
Can pets hear the ultrasound?
Usually not. What you should definitely know is that birds cannot hear the ultrasound under any circumstances, as their hearing is almost completely in the same range as humans. In the case of dogs, our experience is that urban (typically smaller bodied) dogs absolutely cannot hear it, nor can mixed breeds and older purebred dogs. Only some hunting dog breeds have the hearing to detect ultrasonic alarms. Fortunately, they are usually so well trained that they will not bark at it, they simply stand aside. We don't know of a similar pattern in cats, but even among them it is rare to find an individual that can hear. Cattle, pigs and other livestock are also not bothered by ultrasound.
Can I use the Vadalarm Rodent Repeller outdoors?
The device can be used outdoors, but only if it can be placed under a roof, e.g. under a patio. The rodent repellent is not waterproof, so direct rain may damage it.
Can I use the Vadalarm Rodent Repellent in the engine compartment of my car?
A lot of people have problems with rodents getting into the engine compartment of their car. However, when you consider that you might need to install a Vadalarm Rodent Repellent in the engine compartment, there are two important things to be aware of that unfortunately make it a bad idea. Firstly, our rodent alarms operate on 5V, whereas your car has a 12V system. While this should not be an insurmountable technical obstacle, it is a bigger problem that the engine compartment of modern cars is full of soundproofing materials that absorb not only engine noise but also ultrasound. In conclusion, we do not recommend, and would not advise anyone to install a rodent alarm in the engine compartment.
How many square metres can one device protect?
You may have noticed that the range of our rodent alarms is given in metres and not in square metres, as sound propagation cannot be measured in square metres either. It is much clearer to look at how far a particular sound travels from its source. Our rodent alarms can emit ultrasound at an angle of 120° over a distance of 30 metres, or 60 metres with extra power. A simple calculation gives 1000 and 2000 m² respectively. However, it is important to note that the shape of this is a circular arc, so one device alone will not cover a building with the same floor area. Our best recommendation is to place a device in each airspace to be protected, in such a way that there are as few obstacles as possible to the sound.
What does a rodent alarm cost?
You've probably come across rodent repellers for a tenth of the price of a Vadalarm rodent repellent, so you may well ask why ours costs so much. But if you take a closer look at how our product is put together, you'll understand. The most powerful piezo speaker on the market is quality-controlled and packaged with our custom-designed amplifier and microprocessor circuitry in a waterproof enclosure. If you choose the Smart version, you get even more: we'll even build a battery into our Bluetooth and WiFi enabled control circuitry, so your rodent alarm will work reliably for weeks away from the mains. Plus, you can control its operation with a smartphone app. We'll deliver it to you the next day, free of charge, in snow or ice.
How long do I need to charge my battery-powered rodent alarm?
Our battery-powered rodent alarms are delivered from the factory at around 50% charge. After that, you should charge the battery before using it. The first charge will take a maximum of 2-3 hours and subsequent charges a maximum of 4-5 hours. You can check the charge level by the beeps after switching on. The number of beeps you hear is directly proportional to the battery charge: 1 beep indicates low charge, 2 indicates medium charge and 3 indicates close to maximum charge. Make sure it is off for at least 10 seconds before switching on.
How long does a battery-powered rodent alarm last on a single charge?
Our rechargeable rodent alarms are smart devices, so they constantly monitor the power they have available. It will go off frequently after a fresh charge and then become less frequent as the days pass and the battery runs down. It does this to save energy and maximise operating time. This method has enabled us to achieve an average of 14 days of operation on a single charge. However, it is important to be aware that the mechanism described above means that the efficiency of the alarm is at its best during the first few days. Later, although not significantly, it decreases.
