Description
The FD 280 is a hydrostatic lawnmower with front mower and differential lock. Its main features are high performance and high quality cutting and collection. The innovative "Grillo Overblow" cutting system allows acceleration of the air-grass flow in the channel, which significantly increases the load capacity even at high humidity, while keeping the noise level of the entire cutting/collection system under control. The front scythe provides a perfect view of the cutting area. Steering wheel drive, compact dimensions and a very small turning radius make the Grillo FD280 agile, easy to drive within easy reach for everyone, while at the same time offering the features needed for professional use in tight spaces.

The FD280 cutting table has 2 non-overlapping blades rotating opposite each other, eliminating the need for phase change, and a third central blade. This is unique of its kind. It is positioned in front, forward and fully cantilevered to the operator, giving you an exceptional view of the work! It allows precise cutting even under bushes or low branches, limiting the need for finishing work. The robust trapezoidal (not serrated) drive belt of the cutting attachment will not be damaged by impact with stones or other objects.

The cutting width is 113 cm, the cutting height varies from a minimum of 30 to a maximum of 90 mm and is adjustable by means of the 7-position lever next to the driver's seat. The collection mower can be converted into a mulching mower using the optional kit.

The innovative cutting system allows a high acceleration of the air-grass flow. The three blades simultaneously feed the grass into the wide and direct channel leading to the basket, significantly increasing the loading speed. Thanks to the high speed loading, the grass is better compacted, increasing the efficiency of the 280 litre basket volume.

In difficult conditions, high humidity and high grass, the efficiency of the Grillo system is unsurpassed. In the autumn, when grass mats cover the lawn, the FD280 can collect them completely without clogging.

The Grillo FD280 is an extremely easy to use and pleasant to drive mower! The steering wheel and steered rear axle allow an inside turning radius of only 30 cm!

The hydrostatic transmission is controlled by a single pedal that controls both forward and reverse. The forward pedal is equipped with a "shock absorber" to prevent jolting. In tight spaces, when manoeuvring or in the presence of obstacles, the FD280 will always be agile!

Thanks to the floating mower housing, the Grillo FD280 always cuts perfectly, even on uneven terrain. The tilting rear axle, the garden profile drive wheels and the mower housing support system allow the FD280 to follow uneven ground and depressions with precision, cutting with precision and without damaging the lawn.

The speed of the FD280 is infinitely variable between 0 and 9.5 km/h. Your garden maintenance will be fast and high quality. When needed, the differential lock with automatically disengaging "push-up" pedal increases traction and safety. The wheels of the scythe are made of solid rubber, making it impossible to puncture!

When the basket is full, the blades automatically disengage and the cut is interrupted to avoid clogging. You can also choose the "acoustic signal" option (just unplug the electrical socket), which will warn you when the basket is full.

Emptying a full basket with FD280 is easy! A button next to the seat controls an electric lift that lifts the basket; the basket opens automatically, completely empty. Opening the collection basket is magnetic, simple and efficient.

The cutting unit is operated by an electromagnetic clutch, the control is push-button and has an indicator light to indicate operation.

The parking brake is disc brake and is controlled by a handy lever. Allows the parking brake to be applied even when the engine is running, the parking brake cannot be applied. The FD280 is powered by a Vanguard 14 HP petrol engine with electric start and an 8 litre fuel tank. The two-cylinder, overhead-valve engine has a displacement of 479 cm3 and uses modern solutions that guarantee reliability, low emissions, low consumption, high performance and minimised vibration. The FD280's exhaust silencer has been designed by Grillo "Grillo Super Silent" for high noise levels and minimum exhaust drag. The engine is of professional type with bearings on the crankshaft, oil pump, oil filter and cast iron cylinders.

The driving position of the FD280 is ergonomic. The spring-loaded and adjustable seat, together with the height-adjustable steering wheel, make the FD280 a mower for all needs. Cleaning the blade at the end of the job will always be quick and accessible for everyone! The blade is equipped with a wash connection, and by connecting a water hose, the entire cutting system can be easily cleaned.

The cutting table of the FD280 is easily detachable, so that it can be stably positioned in an upright position on its dedicated feet. Simply pull down the drive belt to carry out any maintenance immediately. The loading chute can also be removed. The gearbox and engine parts can be accessed by lifting the basket or the seat. The Grillo FD280 is equipped with lifting hooks to facilitate transport.

All parts, from the simplest to the most complex, are of high quality. The frame, the cutting force distributor, the plate, everything is manufactured by Grillo in Italy, using the best materials and the most modern technologies to ensure high, consistent and 100% controlled quality. Grillo machines are painted with two coats of electrostatic powder coating. Washing and preparation baths are applied first, followed by a first protective coat, which, when baked in the oven, provides the best base for the finishing application. A second coat of paint and further baking in the oven at 190°C gives the characteristic hardness and gloss. FD280 is meticulously assembled and tested by professionals. Final testing of the FD280 includes testing of each machine with the motor running to check all functions. This is an additional and final guarantee of a high quality product.
