Hydrostatic mower with front mower. The main features of the Grillo FD450 include a 450 litre grass collector, a 170 cm high grass collector discharge opening and a 45 cm rear overhang, a differential lock, high performance and excellent cutting and collection quality. The innovative "Grillo Overblow" cutting system allows the air-grass flow to be accelerated in the feed channel, which significantly increases the loading capacity even in very humid conditions, while reducing the noise level of the entire cutting/collection system. The front scythe provides a perfect view of the cutting area. The steering wheel, compact dimensions and very small turning radius make the Grillo FD450 agile, easy to drive, within easy reach for everyone, while at the same time having the features needed for professional use in tight spaces. The controls for adjusting the cutting height, raising the mower, lifting and emptying the grass collector are electric push buttons.

The FD450 cutting table is unique. It has two counter-rotating blades (no phase requirement) and a third, central blade. It is positioned at the front, forward and fully cantilevered from the operator, giving exceptional working area visibility! It allows precise cutting even under bushes or low branches, limiting finishing operations, and is equipped with reinforcements at the front and sides. The blades' drive belt is trapezoidal without serrations, so it is not damaged in the event of impact with stones or other objects.

The cutting width is 113 cm and the cutting height varies from a minimum of 25 to a maximum of 90 mm. The cutting height can be adjusted by means of an electric knob on the handlebar. The adjustment is continuous and allows the ideal height to be achieved even for mulching type cutting, available with an optional kit for this purpose. The cutting unit can be raised hydraulically by means of an electric button when moving, making it easier to overcome obstacles.

The innovative cutting system allows a high acceleration of the air-grass flow. Three blades simultaneously feed the grass into a wide and direct channel to the basket, significantly increasing the loading speed. Thanks to the high speed loading, the grass is better compacted, increasing the efficiency of the 450 litre basket volume.

In difficult conditions, with tall and wet grass, the Grillo system's efficiency is optimised. In the autumn, when grass mats cover the lawn, the FD450 can collect them completely without clogging.

The Grillo FD450 is an extremely easy to handle and pleasant to drive mower! The steering wheel is in use and the steered rear axle allows an inside turning radius of only 30 cm!

Hydrostatic transmission is controlled by a single pedal that controls both forward and reverse. The forward pedal is equipped with a "shock absorber" to prevent jolting. In tight spaces, when manoeuvring or in the presence of obstacles, the FD450 will always be agile!

Thanks to the floating mower housing, the Grillo FD450 always cuts perfectly, even on uneven terrain. The tilting rear axle, the garden profile drive wheels and the mower housing support system allow the FD450 to follow uneven ground and depressions with precision, cutting with precision and without damaging the lawn.

The speed of the FD450 can be continuously varied between 0 and 11 km/h. Garden maintenance will be fast and high quality. When needed, the differential lock with "push-up" pedal and automatic off switch increases traction and safety. The wheels of the scythe are made of solid rubber, making it impossible to puncture!

When the basket is full, the blades automatically switch off, interrupting the cut. It is also possible to select the "acoustic signal" option (just unplug the electrical socket), which warns you when the basket is full.

Emptying the Grillo FD450 grass collector is done by electric buttons from the driver's seat; the two independent hydraulic systems allow the grass collector to be raised to a height of 170 cm with a rear overhang of 45 cm, and to be tipped over for emptying. The grass collector opens automatically.

The cutting unit is operated by an electromagnetic clutch controlled by a push button.

The parking brake is a disc brake. When retracted, it allows the mower to be lowered with the engine running, provided that the mower housing is not engaged, in which case the hydraulic control of the mower housing and the basket is automatically disengaged.

The FD450 model is equipped with an 18 hp Briggs & Stratton 7220 Professional Series V-Twin gasoline engine, electric start, 17 liter tank and fuel level indicator integrated into the fuel cap. The two-cylinder, overhead-valve engine has a displacement of 656 cc and uses modern solutions that guarantee reliability, low emissions, low consumption, high performance and minimised vibration. The FD450's "Grillo Super Silent" exhaust silencer has been designed and developed by Grillo to achieve high noise levels and minimum exhaust drag. The engine is of professional type with bearings on the crankshaft, oil pump, oil filter and cast iron cylinders.

The FD450's driver's seat is ergonomic. The driver's seat is wide and comfortable, the seat is sprung and adjustable to the operator's weight.
At the end of the job, cleaning the blade will always be quick and accessible for everyone! The blade is equipped with a wash connection, by connecting a water hose the entire cutting equipment can be easily cleaned.

The cutting table of the FD450 is easily detachable so that it can be stably positioned in an upright position on dedicated feet: simply pull down the drive belt to carry out any maintenance work immediately. The loading chute can also be removed. The gearbox and engine parts can be accessed by lifting the basket or the seat. The Grillo FD450 is equipped with lifting hooks to facilitate transport.

All parts, from the simplest to the most complex, are of high quality. The frame, the gearbox, the cutting table, everything is manufactured by Grillo in Italy, using the best materials and the most modern technologies to ensure high, consistent and controlled quality. Grillo machines are painted with two coats of electrostatic powder coating. Washing and preparation baths are applied first, followed by a first protective coat, which, when baked in the oven, provides the best base for the finishing application. A second coat of paint and a further step in the oven at 190°C gives the characteristic hardness and gloss. FD450 is meticulously assembled and tested by professionals. Final testing of the FD450 includes testing each machine with the engine running to check all functions. This is an additional and final guarantee of a high quality product.
