Description
In conveniently dispensable capsules, 4000 mini organic egg-laying larvae at various stages of development. Suitable against fruit flies, cabbage aphids, owl aphids, caterpillars of bushes and figs, and arsariids in both vegetable and orchard crops.
Hatching starts within a few hours after the cold chain is broken. For 4 weeks after release, in a 10 metre radius, the almost invisible, harmless animals keep the area completely caterpillar-free. After 4 weeks, new oviposition capsules should be laid out for continued protection. The capsules can be stored in a refrigerator between 1-10 degrees for up to 7 days, after which they should be discarded.
The capsules contain different developmental forms of the quail wasp species Trichogramma pintoi and Trichogramma evanescens. The egg-laying parasitic quack wasps mate immediately after hatching and exit the egg-laying capsules through the formed fly holes. The fertilised females actively seek out the eggs of the pest moths. The female quail pierces the shell of the young moth eggs with her ovipositor and lays her own egg next to the developing caterpillar. The larva that hatches from the ovipositor egg eats the contents of the moth egg, preventing the caterpillar from hatching.
On-site collection is recommended, but we can send out cold packed, in which case we will charge an extra cold pack fee.
If you order by home delivery, the product may warm up depending on the temperature outside, so when you receive the package, DO NOT put it back in the fridge, but put it out in your garden as soon as possible (within a few hours). If the package warms up above 10 degrees Celsius, the product will not be ruined, but the insects will start to wake up from hibernation. The size of the ovipositors is about a quarter of the size of a pinhead and the capsule contains thousands of individuals, only a few of which may hatch in the first few hours, so there should be no loss of effectiveness.
