Trixi is a dual-purpose modern triticale variety that can be grown effectively as both a grain and a silage variety. It has excellent green yields, has been the highest straw candidate in registration trials every year, and its height is combined with good stamina. The average grain yield in the years studied was 6.8 t/ha, 6.2% above the average of the experimental standard varieties. In 2016, it finished the season with an average yield of 8.19 t/ha, 11.7% higher than the average of the standards. The variety has an excellent resistance profile to the most important diseases: yellow rust, fusarium rust, cereal leaf blight and cinnamon brown leaf spot. Its high thousand kernel weight has an excellent protein content, averaging 13.5% in the years studied, which is higher than the average of the food standards, and can be a very good additive to wheat flour for use in the baking industry. It has a high weight per hectolitre of between 75 and 77 kg. Its green yield is expected to be between 34 and 39 t/ha, with an average dry matter content of 22.8%. Its green yield has an above-average crude protein content and an excellent sugar content, which is converted mainly into lactic acid if the ensiling technology is favourable.
