Description
Nanti 2 / Milan organic carrot seed is suitable for early sowing for fresh consumption and for late sowing for storage.
Under suitable conditions, it can be stored until spring. For fresh consumption, it takes about 90 days to prepare and can be sown early, in March. For storage, sow in May-June.
It has a pleasant, balanced flavour, healthy foliage and a smooth, bright orange colour.
All root vegetables grow well in loamy, rather sandy soils. In these they do not encounter any obstacles to growth and therefore do not grow 'leggy' carrots.
Carrots are one of the most important vegetables in organic nutrition. It stimulates digestion as the fibre swells in the intestine and releases an activating energy on the mucous membrane.
Cultivated carrots contain about 88% water, 7% sugar, 1% protein, 1% fibre, 1% ash and 0.2% fat. The taste of the vegetable is mainly due to glutamic acid and other free amino acids. Its orange colour is due to β-carotene, which is partially converted into vitamin A in the human body. Carrots are rich in antioxidants and minerals.
One of the first Western varieties was bred in the Netherlands in the 17th century, and is the origin of the Nantes carrot.
